She's is only 28 and has been married to my brother since Sept. 2013. Right now she is in a St Louis awaiting a heart transplant. She's been dealing with heart issues for the past 2 years--she's had a valve repair, a valve replacement, a stroke, numerous blood clots and we almost lost her last October. She rallied and came back after the doctors told my brother--there was nothing more that they could do, it was all in her hands. She is dealing with the same issues this October and her ONLY option is a new heart. Please pray for the person that will pass away and chose to donate their organs, for their family that will lost their loved one, for my brother doing through this with the love of his life, for her family and most importantly for Darah. See the most recent update below: It has been such an eventful day! Ben met with the neurologist - and for the first time, was given a positive word. So many, Amanda's age, make a full recovery. God is putting so many key people into Ben and Amanda's lives. The husband of a friend of Amanda's had a massive stroke during surgery 2 yrs ago and has made an amazing recovery. He has met with both Ben and Amanda and he came back and sat with Ben for a couple of hours today. His wife has offered to spend nights with Amanda and work with her - to walk with them through this journey which they themselves have successfully navigated. Amanda had her catheter removed today! She is off her narcotics! (though she still has a headache). She was much less nauseated today. She was awake a lot more today. She visited with guests. We witnessed her sense of humor!!!! She was moved to the rehab floor - which we've been told is a very positive move. She had a short phone conversation with Kathy tonight. The neurologist told Ben that the cause of Amanda's stroke and many miscarriages is due to a Protein S deficiency which we are told is a genetic disorder.. That is now being treated with a blood-thinning medicine. We are so incredibly thankful for all that God has done today and thus far - He truly is our Ebenezer!
